Religious pilgrimages in Italy attracts 40 million visitors every year, wit total of 19 million overnight stays and economic results of 4 billions Euro (data furnished from Trademark Italia). The destination places of this sector are 30000 basilicas and churches, 700 diocesan museums, 220 sanctuaries, monasteries, convents and other properties of Roman Catholic Church (about 70% of cultural goods existing in Italy). About 50 per cent of visitors has predominantly cultural interests, meanwhile 20 per cent is composed from exclusively religious pilgrimages.
