ONLY 4 OF 10 ITALIANS ARE GONE ON HOLIDAY IN THE 2011 SUMMER |
The Italians went on vacation in the summer of 2011 are only 4 of 10 (but 1 of 5 Italian already had a holiday in the first six months of the year)... The average duration of the holiday period is two weeks (but 18.5% is 3 or 4 weeks). Holidays to save money
The number of 'summer vacationers' is particularly high for people under 55 years, for the regions of central and northern Italy, for those who have an employment (56.5%) compared to those who perform a self-employment (49%). For many people, this year the holidays are characterized by moderation and savings: about half (50.5%) spend more or less like last year, but the remaining 49.5% must give up something because they have less available money. However, relatively few (7%) Italians who have resorted to borrowing in order to go on vacation. They prefer shorter and more frugal holidays (-8%), but without debt.
The desire to discover 'new places'
The choices of Italians are directed towards Italy (77%): of these 70% chose the sea, 14% the mountains , and the rest is divided among cities, lakes and spas. About 42% (above all women and over 55) decided to return to the same destination as the previous year. Of the remaining 58% changing vacation locality, the vast majority (98.5%) altered by the desire to discover new places, only 1, 5% was changed because it was not satisfied with the chosen location for the previous year.
